Daisy & Brownie Girl Scouts/Junior Girl Scouts/Cadette & Senior Advisor (with girls 11-17)
Training Schedule/Registration information

 

Daisy and Brownie Girl Scouts

This 3-hour course concentrates on program, troop government, and girl/adult planning.  It is required for all leaders, co-leaders, assistant leaders or advisors working with Daisy or Brownie Girl Scouts and must be taken by all leaders, co-leaders assistant leaders and advisors within 3 months of assuming leadership.  Leaders/Advisors who are changing age levels must take the course within 3 months of taking the new position.

PREREQUISITE:

·        Completed volunteer application, references and background check if a leader, co-leader, assistant leader or advisor

·        Completed Girl Scout Ways Training

YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN ABOUT:

·        The needs and characteristics of girls in your troop and how to address those needs

·        Planning and setting goals with your girls

·        Form of troop government most appropriate for your age level

·        Progression in program

·        Developing leadership skills within your group

·        Recognitions appropriate for your age level and how to work with girls to earn them

PREPARE BY REVIEWING:

·        Guide for Daisy Girl Scout Leaders or Guide for Brownie Girl Scout Leaders

YOU SHOULD BRING:

·        Leader Notebook

·        Guide for Daisy Girl Scout Leaders or Guide for Brownie Girl Scout Leaders and Brownie Handbook

·        Paper and pencil

·        Training card (obtained at Girl Scout Ways Training)

Junior Girl Scouts

This 3-hour course concentrates on program, troop government, and girl/adult planning.  It is required for all leaders, co-leaders and assistant leaders working with Junior Girl Scouts and must be taken within 3 months of assuming leadership.  Leaders/Advisors who are changing age levels must take the course within 3 months of taking the new position.

·        Completed Girl Scout Ways Training

·        Paper and pencil

·        Training card (obtained at Girl Scout Ways Training)

Cadette/Senior Advisor (for adults working with girls 11-17)

This 3-hour course concentrates on program, troop/group government, and girl/adult planning. It is required for all advisors working with Girl Scouts 11-17 years old. This must be taken by two advisors within 3 months of assuming leadership. Leaders/Advisors who are changing age levels must take the course within 3 months of taking the new position.

PREREQUISITE:

·        Completed volunteer application, references and background check if a leader, co-leader, assistant leader or advisor

·        Completed Girl Scout Ways Training

YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN ABOUT:

·        The needs and characteristics of girls in your troop and how to address those needs

·        Planning and setting goals with your girls

·        Forms of troop government most appropriate for your age level

·        Progression in program

·        Developing leadership skills within your group

·        Transition from Leader to Advisor

·        STUDIO 2B and other Girl Scout resources for 11-17 year old girls and their advisors
