Girl Scouts of Colorado offers two product sale programs:
The
Cookie Program and the
Be A Reader/QSP
Program. Our Cookie Program begins with order taking in
January and delivery and booth sales mid-February through the end of March. The
Be A Reader/QSP Program is a magazine subscription and renewal program in the
fall and is a "family and friends" sale. Both programs provide funds for troop
start-up, registration, program activities, supplies, etc.
Girls taking part in product sales activities learn firsthand the value of setting goals. With the partnership of girls and adults, a key ingredient in Girl Scouting, troops work together to plan and carry out their goals. By investing time and energy in this process troops and girls are on track to a successful outcome. Girl participation is voluntary, with each family making an informed choice. The Girl Scout product sale programs provide an opportunity for girls to:
learn the importance of goal-setting and develop a plan to achieve a goal;
understand that they can achieve more success as a team than alone;
learn sound financial management – planning, budgeting, sales, money management, marketing and spending;
heighten their career awareness;
demonstrate the value of fair play, cooperation and personal achievement;
develop high levels of self-esteem and self-reliance;
develop interpersonal and teamwork skills;
put the ethical standards of the Girl Scout Promise and Law into practice.
In addition to these direct benefits to individual girls and their troops, Girl Scout product sale programs benefit every girl in Girl Scouts of Colorado. Proceeds from these activities help provide program events, learning opportunities, camping experiences, skills training, etc., for every girl. Funds also provide training opportunities for Girl Scout leaders and maintenance of council properties.
Supporting our annual product sales provides girls with these opportunities. All proceeds from these programs (less the cost of the product) remain here locally to support the Girl Scout program in Colorado!
Product sale activities are not just about earning money, they contribute to the Girl Scout program by adding another dimension to an already exciting and educational Girl Scout experience!
