Support the mission
Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and
character, who make the world a better place.
How are funds
raised?
Fund raising is the responsibility of adults in Girl Scouting. Each council is
responsible for raising its own funding, and all money raised here stays here to
benefit local girls. Money is raised
in a variety of ways:
Annual campaigns
Our annual campaigns consist of mailings done to individuals in the fall and
winter, and mailings to businesses and organizations periodically through out
the year.
Family Partnership campaign
Families help the council provide funding for girls through the
Family Partnership Campaign
that is conducted with girl and adult registration and with a drive in April
through troops. Families are asked to consider a gift of at least $10.00 per
family to help cover the cost of providing program.
Special events
Special events raise money through our
annual breakfasts in Ft. Collins & Ft. Morgan,
the
Cookie Challenge IV - A Chef
Competition
in Ft. Collins and Women of
Distinction Luncheon in Longmont. In 2007 we are adding a dinner in
Sterling on September 7. For more information on that event, please contact Peg
Peterson at 970-522-5233 or email
peg.peterson@gscolorado.org People are asked to consider a
contribution through a multi-year pledge, however, some individuals prefer to
contribute annually.
In-kind gifts
In-kind gifts are gifts of materials or services that are donated to the
council. The donor receives an in-kind donation for tax purposes.
Grants
Grants and restricted gifts are money that comes to the organization dedicated
for a particular fund or purpose. Examples of this would be money given for 'camperships'
or to improve Meadow Mountain Ranch and also grant money given to pay for a
particular program. Girl Scouts-Mountain Prairie Council is proud to be a
recipient of grant funds from
The
Colorado Trust, a P.A.V.E.
(Project Anti-Violence Education) the Way grant funded by a partnership
with Girl Scouts
of the USA and the
Department of Justice Office of
Juvenile Justice and
Delinquency Prevention, and other foundations.

United Way
The council participates in the Foothills, Larimer County, Morgan County, and Weld County United Way campaigns.
Each year a grant is written requesting money to help run the programs for
girls.
With adequate funding we can continue to provide programs to all girls. We thank
all of you who give to Girl Scouting in your time, gifts in-kind and financial
contributions. For more information on how you can support the Girl Scout
mission, call the Girl Scout Service Center or
