Girl Scouts - Mountain Prairie
Council is one of very few councils with such a diverse landscape. The elevation
ranges from 4,900 feet all the way up past 14,000 feet above sea level. Mountain
Prairie Council is Colorado’s largest council in land area. Mountain Prairie
Councils western edge borders that of the Rocky Mountain National Park and
includes The Pawnee National Grasslands in the east. Pawnee National Grasslands
was designated National Grassland in 1960 covering 193,060 acres of land at
elevations that range from 4,900 – 5,500 feet above sea level. Rocky Mountain
National Park was designated a National Park in 1915 covering 265,769 acres
ranging between 7,800 to over 14,000 feet above sea level.
You do not need to be a member of Girl Scouts – Mountain Prairie Council to earn
this patch. Guests to our council are welcome to work on the requirements of
this patch both while they are here in our council and in their home councils.
