ABOUT US

The Girl Scout program is girl driven, reflecting the ever-changing needs and interests of today's girls. In Girl Scouts, girls discover the fun, friendship and power of girls together. Many activities are planned and carried out at the troop level. Other programs are developed by council staff and offered to all girl members.

Leadership is built through the Girl Scout program. Girls discover their world and their own potential and strengthen their values; they connect with others through caring relationships and team building, and they become empowered to take action on issues that are important to them, and be advocates for themselves and others.

Sports Equipment
The council owns a vast array of sports equipment, purchased through a grant, that can be checked out by troops/groups. To view the complete list, click here. To check out the equipment, contact Diana at the service center.

2008 Global Teen Summit
The first biennial Global Teens for Planet Earth Summit will be held in the summer of 2008. It will bring together teams of teens from around the world to present their projects to one another and to learn more about conservation from experts. There will be full and partial travel and lodging scholarships available for participation for teens whose projects are deemed to be of exceptional quality. At present the summit site is expected to be in India, but the location could change.

Selection will be highly competitive. If you are interested, your project should meet the following standards:

1. Your project should directly or indirectly demonstrate positive impact on specific species of native wildlife.

2. There should be some evidence of sustainability - that is, your project should somehow continue to benefit your local community even after you have done the bulk of the work.

3. Your team must first register with Teens for Planet Earth. As part of your application to the Global Summit, you will submit a report with specific project data, photo documentation, and testimonials. More information coming soon!
