Troop sponsorship:
Troop sponsorship
is an excellent way to ensure that Girl Scouting has the support of the broader
community. Perhaps you are already receiving support from an organization or
business and formal troop sponsorship may be a way to strengthen and acknowledge
this relationship. Troop sponsors can provide a variety of services and support.
There is no specific requirement. A local school or church, business,
organization/agency, or individual may provide a meeting place; materials,
supplies, or services; financial assistance for troop start-up costs,
scholarships, activity fees, camp fees, etc.; leaders, consultants, or other
volunteers; and/or publicizing Girl Scouting in their organization’s or agency’s
publications.
If you have a sponsor, you will want to acknowledge their support and let them know what you agree to do for them by using the “Sponsorship Agreement.” This agreement is in NCR triplicate format and may be obtained at the service center or from your service unit manager or membership development director. When you have completed the agreement form, including the sponsor’s signature, please 1) give the white copy to your sponsor, 2) send the yellow copy to the service center, and 3) keep the pink copy for your troop. (The form is also available by clicking here. You'll need to make extra copies for the service center and your records.)
You may consider nominating your sponsor for a Special Supporters Certificate. You can do this at any time of the year but often it is done in conjunction with the GSUSA recognitions given annually in April. To nominate a sponsor, contact the volunteer services director.
