New Program Model
With input from girls, volunteers and council
staff, GSUSA is developing a new program model, called the Leadership
Development Program, to create the world's best program of personal growth and
leadership development for girls. The new model won't
be totally implemented until 2008-09. However, you can already merge some
elements into the work you do now, and the fun you have with the girls. The
Leadership Development Program follows a girl-centric approach and organizes
girls' activities into three broad categories - Girls Discover, Girls Connect
(changed from 'lead'), and
Girls Take Action. Leadership will be the objective. The new model defines the unique Girl Scout
experience; it is what girls do in Girl Scouting. Ultimately, the program model
and its outcomes will reflect and fulfill our mission.
