PREREQISITE: Beyond the Troop Meeting

This overnight course is required prior to planning, cooking and sleeping outdoors with your girls.

• Troop Camp Training will teach adults basic outdoor skills and ways to help girls learn these skills. Skills include:

                      fire building

outdoor cooking

knots and knives

clothing and equipment

environmental respect and minimal impact

• Adults will learn how to partner or guide girls in establishing goals, responsibilities, budgeting, menu planning, and making kapers charts to plan, prepare for, and experience an overnight camping trip. 

• Use of Safety-Wise and GSMPC policies to guide girls in safe and sanitary procedures in outdoor situations.

This training should be taken well in advance of troop camping so that you can share these skills with the girls during girl planning and practice prior to going on the trip. Participants will learn the “Girl Scout Way” of camping.
