ABOUT US

Would you like to...

...expand your skills?

...share your knowledge and enthusiasm of Girl Scouting?

...affect girls and leaders in all areas of the council?

Council trainer is an indispensable position in Girl Scouting. Trainers help leaders provide quality program by giving leaders the skills and knowledge for success in working with girls. Trainers help determine the training needs of volunteers and develop strategies to meet those needs. They may be asked to serve on curriculum design and other committees. In order to provide more trainings to our volunteers we need more trainers.

Council trainers learn all about training in a course called Train the Trainer. This is a 16-20 hour course offered twice per year. If you think you’re interested in becoming a council trainer, please call the council Girl Scout Service Center and speak with the Volunteer Services Director. Application to the program is required. Details of the course will be sent upon approval of your application with a confirmation letter from council.

You can expect to learn about...

...adult learning theory;

...how to plan, design, deliver and evaluate training sessions.

You should bring:

Pre-course assignment (mailed upon confirmation of registration)

(Summer 2006 dates and locations to be determined)
